Chhattisgarh is Located in the Central India, it has been carved out of Madhya Pradesh to become the 26th state of the Indian Union. It is endowed with huge mineral deposits and forest resources. Chhattisgarh also has the largest concentration of Schedule Tribes in the country. Its cities, especially Raipur are full of migrants from other parts of the country. Raipur serves as its capital. History of Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh- According to a mythological legend, Ram, during his Vanvas stayed in Dakshin Kosala. Which is modern day Chhattisgarh. The unbroken history of Chhattisgarh or of South Kosala can be traced back to fourth century AD and its mythological history goes back as far back as the Mahabarata and the Ramayana. Climate: The Climate of Chhattisgarh is mainly tropical, humid and sub-humid. The climate is hot because of its positioning on the tropic of cancer. May is the hottest month and December-January are the coldest ones. The state is completely dependent on the monsoons for rains.
Flora and Fauna: The state has one of the largest forest covers in the country with around 45% of its total area under forest. Chhattisgarh also has a large concentration of wildlife with national park and wildlife sanctuaries like Indrawati National Park and Kanagerghati National Park covering a large part of the state. The forests are mixed deciduous with teak and bamboo comprising a major part.

Geography of Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh is one of the few landlocked states of the country. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar bind the State in north, in the east it is bound by Orissa, in the south by Andhra Pradesh and in the west by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. A large part of the state comes under Vindhyachal range that divides the Indian subcontinent into two. Mahanadi and Narmada are the principal rivers of the state. Narmada has its origin in Amarkantak, which lies in Chhattisgarh.
